Want to add a little zest to your life?  Just add Pepper.

Pepper is a lively, snuggly, happy 18-week-old girl, who was born to a stray pregnant mama in the care of a homeless couple in Downtown San Jose. She spent her first four months living in a camper van with the couple and their four existing dogs.  Given their circumstances, they were unable to give her the care she needed, and approached Pepper’s current foster to help find her a good home.

Pepper’s foster family says she is as sweet as she is spicy. If she’s not on your lap, she’s curled up next to you or giving kisses.  And, when it’s playtime, she’s all fun.  She loves her stuffy toys, enjoys a game of tug with her Golden Retriever foster brother and a good, old-fashioned game of chase with her feline foster sister (After being leery of one another at first, kitty and puppy learned that “zoomies” are more fun with a friend).

Though her original human parents didn’t have much to give Pepper, they showered her with love and took good care of her.  Pepper got a perfectly clean bill of health when her foster mom took her to the vet.  She’s got a beautiful shiny black coat, her pearly white adult teeth are coming in and she’s in tip top shape.

Because of Pepper’s humble beginnings, she’s experiencing many sights and sounds for the first time. Her foster family says that, in just a few short weeks, she’s grown more confident as she goes out into the world.  Though, if something frightens her, she’ll come to you for love rather than bark. (For the most part, she only “talks” when she has to potty or wants to play).

Pepper has been crate trained and is nearly house broken.  Her foster family is also working with her on leash training and basic commands.  They’ll miss her terribly – dog and cats too – but they know she’ll be as happy as could be when she finds her forever home! $250 adoption fee to the St. Francis Animal Protection Society.
